The Rural Ontario Institute (ROI) recently presented to the Minister of Finance as part of pre-budget consultations being held across the province. Pat Shaw, ROI board director, spoke on behalf of the organization, which took place in Kitchener, ON, on February 6, 2018.

Finance Minister Sousa hosted the morning session and was joined by Tourism Minister Daiene Vernile (Kitchener-Centre) and Transportation Minister Kathryn McGarry, MPP (Cambridge). ROI’s three-minute presentation was informed by statistical analysis that the Institute prepares and publishes on rural demographics, socio-economic trends and conditions, such as income and employment (Focus on Rural Ontario Fact Sheets).
